![]() I don't know I am a fanboy of hyper-converge, it just works. It's great having everything just plug-in, and when you want to add more you put another box in and hit a button, here is more power now. Mostly used for backup and some stuff with our Nutanix. I'm using Nimble as storage for some of this, and I love this storage device up and down. Support isn't as grand, but I have no complaints about the product or support. the vmware host screen was not able to be accessed it said something about being locked by the administrator. Currently running ESXi 6.7 and when a coworker was upgrading one of the vmware host machines the machine was stuck during the reboot - their was no access to the host. My XenServer hosts all have 2 NICs that I am using for iSCSI and I have created 2 iSCSI networks with 2 IP addresses on the same subnet as my Nimble data addresses. I do have Simpliviy setup in my environment as well. vCenter showing inaccessible VM with just a number as name. I have a Nimble iSCSI array with 2 data IP addresses and 1 discovery IP on the same subnet. I cannot say enough good things about the people who support the product when these events happen. ![]() ![]() You have to make sure to read all notes before doing any kind of updates. You could get an update and find out it doesn't function correctly on your hardware. When VXRail updates come out, they don't always support "YOUR HARDWARE". When VMWare makes changes to it's software however. I would recommend any other brand Nutanix or HPE Simplivity. Moving them internal on my own host saved us more per year in hosting cost than the entire cluster with san cost us One of my subsidiaries was paying $25,000 /mth for hosting 3 servers. Completely cut down my power, cooling and battery budget.Īnd when we merged and took over a couple other companies, I was able to dramatically reduce their hosting costs by hundreds of thousands a year by moving them off cloud based managed hosting to my own local host. I was able to completely replace a dozen+ individual old servers with two hosts. Getting a matching pair of servers with 256 threads and 512gb of RAM each was just not happening in budget if I went intel. All in all, there was just simply no competition. ![]() When I was speccing out my ESXI hosts and needed core count over pure MHZ, there was nothing in Intel space that came even close to what the EPYC's are delivering. Can access it via console, but after you enter login information and press enter it freezes (cursor is still blinking) - If you remove the host. Cannot acess web interface or login via SSH. It also could be possible that all the iSCSI initiator NICs connect to the same target IP on your Nimble storage, limiting the effective throughput to this one path on the storage side. ![]() I see the text "detected to be a snapshot" and "Could not open device '4c19dd2e-f64dfcc4-f94f-a4badb4fcdb6' for probing: No such target on adapter The new host sees only 8 of 10 datastores. The older hosts are running live VMs that reside on the 2 "missing" datastores. However, 2 of the LUNs do not appear in the list of Datastores on the new host. The iSCSI Storage Adapter on all hosts (new and old) discovers all available LUNs, 10 in total. I am adding a new host to an ESX 4 cluster. ![]()
